Your Life is a Gift, a wonderful gift from the great Creator, the only true, living God. "Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with Whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."1
He made all things, all life, all galaxies, the universe, all animals, all plants. It is from Him. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."2 You are, because He created. "In the beginning was the Word (Jesus Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."3 "For by Him (Jesus Christ) all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him."4 You were made by Him, Jesus the great creator God, and for Him. Your life is a great gift from Him.
But you will soon die. Why? Why does everyone die? We all die, because, even though we were given life from our great Creator God, we have all turned away from Him. We all go our own way and do what we want to do, instead of doing what He wants us to do. "For we have already charged that all... are under sin, as it is written: 'None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside..., so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.'"5
Death is the result of your rebellion against your Creator God. "And the Lord God commanded the man (Adam), saying, 'You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.'"6 Disobeying your Creator God, sinning against Him, is the reason for your death. "Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die."7
"For the wages of sin is death,..."8
But there is hope, even with the sentence of death on your life. There is life, spiritual, eternal, life. It also comes from your Creator God. It is His free gift. He, your Creator God, came to earth 2,000 years ago to rescue you from His judgment, your sin and death.
"...but the gift of God is eternal life,
through Jesus Christ our Lord."9
Jesus Christ is God, your deliverer. "Jesus said to him, 'Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?'"10
He lived the only perfect life. He suffered in your place, for your sins. He died for you. "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He
might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit."11 "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures..."12
He suffered and died for you, to rescue you from your sin and death. But He did not stay dead. He defeated death.
"...He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. Then He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep."13
Jesus Christ is the Creator God Who came to earth to save you from His judgment, your sin and your death. He is Lord and Savior!
Turn to Him. Trust Him. Rely upon Him to deliver you.
"He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God."14
Turn away from your own goodness to His goodness. Turn away from your religion to the only Savior Jesus Christ. Turn away from your sin to Him. Trust in Him and His great provision for your eternal life. Call upon Him in prayer. For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."15 Ask Him to make you His child. Ask Him for His gift of eternal life. Ask Him to make His cross work active in your life. Trust Him, rely upon Him, Him alone. "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."16
Jesus is Lord and Master, the greatest One, the exalted One, the Most High One. "He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."17
